Remove Pomegranate Seeds

Tip

How to Remove Pomegranate Seeds

Start by rolling the whole pomegranate on the counter with moderate pressure to help loosen the seeds inside.

Using a sharp knife, carefully remove the top and bottom of the fruit. Score the skin along the natural white segments, being careful not to cut all the way through. Gently pull the pomegranate apart into four sections. Hold one section cut-side down in the palm of your hand and, using a heavy wooden spoon, firmly whack (not tap) the skin side so the seeds fall out. Remove any remaining seeds by hand. Store the seeds in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3–4 days.
