How to Freeze Apple Slices

Start by preparing your apple slices using the salt-water method to prevent them from browning.

Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt to 1 cup of lukewarm water and stir until the salt dissolves. Add the cored and sliced apples and let them soak for 5 minutes. Drain the apples, rinse them well with cold water, and pat them completely dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.

Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet, making sure they are not touching. Place the baking sheet in the freezer and freeze until the slices are completely firm, about 2–3 hours. Once frozen, transfer the apple slices to a freezer-safe bag or airtight container, removing as much air as possible before sealing. Label and date the container and freeze for up to 6 months. Frozen apple slices are perfect for muffins, breads, pies, smoothies, sauces, and cooked desserts.
