Barbecue Sausage and Pepper Pizza

Serves: one pizza | Prep: 10 min | Cook: 25 min

Ingredients:

Barbecue Sausage and Pepper Pizza:
One Pizza Dough
1 lb Italian sausage
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 bell pepper, seeded and sliced
1 onion, sliced
1/2 cup Marinara Sauce
2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded

Directions:
Preheat the barbecue or grill to high heat. Place the sausages on the grill and cook for 15–20 minutes, turning occasionally until fully cooked and browned. Meanwhile, heat a bit of oil in a Cast Iron Skillet directly on the grill. Add the peppers and onions, close the lid, and cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and slightly charred.

Once the sausages are done, remove them from the grill and let them cool slightly before slicing. Stretch the pizza dough onto a Cast Iron Griddle. Top with sauce, sliced sausages, cooked peppers and onions, and shredded mozzarella cheese. Grill the for 10–15 minutes with the lid closed, until the cheese is melted and the crust is golden brown.

**Tip: Once the bottom of the pizza starts to brown, turn off the heat underneath—the cast iron will stay hot and continue cooking without burning the crust.
