Baked Spaghetti Pie

Ingredients:

Baked Spaghetti Pie:
12oz dried spaghetti
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb sausage meat, casing removed
1 onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 14oz cans chopped tomatoes
2 Tbsp tomato paste
2 Tbsp Dried Italian Seasoning
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp red pepper flake
3 eggs
1/2 cup cream cheese, room temperature
1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F / 180°C and grease a 9-inch deep-dish pie pan.

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package directions.

While the pasta cooks, place a Dutch oven over medium heat. Add beef, sausage, onion, and garlic. Cook for 5–6 minutes, breaking the meat into small pieces with a wooden spoon, until browned and the onion has softened. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and red pepper flakes, then simmer gently for 10–12 minutes. Remove 2 cups of the meat sauce and set aside.

Drain the cooked pasta and add it to the remaining sauce in the pot, stirring well to coat. Whisk the eggs and stir them through the spaghetti mixture. Transfer the pasta mixture to the prepared pie pan and press down firmly to pack it in evenly. Spread the softened cream cheese over the top, then spoon over the reserved meat sauce.

In a bowl, combine the mozzarella and parmesan, then sprinkle evenly over the pie. Bake for 25 minutes, until golden, bubbling, and crisp around the edges. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
